Here are the IRS issues!
The State of Colorado Department of Revenue has been very aggressive in collecting taxes within the last two years. They have issued a record number of wage garnishments and seizures. And, because of budget cuts, the Colorado employees can be very hard to contact to stop these garnishments.
Therefore, we have to be persistent with Colorado in order to try to stop the garnishment of your wages or bank accounts. TaxHelpLaw will call, fax, E-mail and show up in person until they respond.
Garnishment: A Colorado Wage garnishment is usually 25%, although they can be 50% of your wages. We need to act quickly to stop Colorado before your wages are taken.
Non-Residents: Colorado and other states, like California & New York, are infamous & aggressive with pursuing taxes against people who do not owe any tax because they did not live or work in the state.
In this case, you must prove conclusively that you do not owe the State by showing that you filed a return in another state and that your voter registration, driver's license and abode was in the other state. You may have to file a return and claim credit for taxes paid to that other state.
Resolution: Your case doesn't end with just getting the Colorado garnishment released. The ultimate solution to many Colorado tax cases often depends on adjustments made to the underlying Federal IRS account. The two taxes are inter-related and affect each other. Colorado may be the first government to contact you, but there is usually a Federal problem and a Federal solution underneath.
Let us prepare an Action Plan for you that is specific for your needs & circumstances.
But, fortunately, because the Colorado Tax is inter-related to the Federal Tax, when the IRS grants you claims, such as Innocent Spouse, Penalty Abatement, etc., Colorado will also grant you those claims.
Your attorney consultation will be more productive if you will call the IRS at 1-800-829-1040 & get your Account Transcripts & your Wage and Income Transcripts. See below*
*Wage & Income transcripts are computer-generated IRS records about you from your job, your bank, your mortgage company, etc. Account Transcripts show details of your account with the IRS. Colorado issues are often interrelated to Federal issues so we want to have all the information available to give you good advice. If you are too nervous about calling the IRS just bring what you can and come in. If you call, the IRS may be stern but don't worry, you need the Wage & Income Transcripts and your Account Transcripts. Tell them you are not yet ready to talk and need the documents to get tax legal advice. Don't Argue!!

The State of Colorado is also notorious for taking refunds to pay for IRS taxes, student loans or support. Usually takings for student loans and support are not recoverable, but taxes can be recovered through a claim for refund. Mr. Hopkins will show you how!
